Position Description

Assistant Director for Perioperative Nursing

FT position available. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Perioperative Nursing and with considerable latitude for exercise of independent judgment: organizes, implements, monitors, controls and evaluates the program of nursing practice of the Operating Room located at Strong Memorial Hospital in accordance with the general nursing practice philosophy and objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to promote change by forming nursing teams focused on the care of patients grouped within specific surgical services.

The Assistant Director will have the opportunity to direct the Nurse Managers overseeing each specialty work group to facilitate the scheduling and cross training of staff. The person in this position will have the opportunity to try new approaches in developing cohesive teams, engage surgical teams’ participation and establish relationships with ancillary services. RN with Master’s Degree in Nursing, MBA or MHA. Five or more year’s leadership/management experience in an academic medical center or tertiary setting. Operating Room Nursing required.
