Rear Admiral Susan Orsega Named Acting Surgeon General

President Joe Biden has named Rear Admiral Susan Orsega, MSN, FNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN, acting surgeon general. Orsega will fill the role until the Senate holds confirmation hearings for Biden’s official nominee, Vivek Murthy, who served in the role under former President Barack Obama.

Orsega’s experience in public health, infectious disease and disaster response, and her commitment to health care equity make her an excellent choice to lead us at this critical time.”
