GVNA Supports the Equitable Distribution of COVID-19 Vaccines in the Finger Lakes Region

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qs4CLZscsGhS7N2R53aNSflSlLTVvvac/view?usp=sharing  The African American and Latino Health Coalitions are a group of individuals and organizations, convened by Common Ground Health, that work together to build a coordinated community response to eliminate health inequities in the Finger Lakes Region.

These health inequities have been made more evident by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the proportion of vaccinated communities of color and rural communities has fallen behind due to challenges in access to vaccination centers, barriers to registration, limited language proficiency, and centralized decision making that does not adapt to local needs.

Consequently, the coalitions have written a letter to the NYS governor’s office, requesting local decision making authority on vaccine registration and distribution, the inclusion of farm laborers in stages 1a-c, language access for limited English proficient groups, and access to timely local data to identify equity gaps and elicit rapid community action. We believe these measures will minimize the observed gaps. GVNA was one of the organizations that added its name to the letter found below.
