The House of Representatives is voting this week on legislation addressing violence against nurses, and we need you to raise your voice to help get it passed. Share your story now and tell your lawmaker to vote YES for H.R. 1195! One in four nurses has experienced workplace violence and the stories are horrifying, and all too common. Every single day, nurses are stabbed, punched, grabbed, kicked, verbally assaulted, or worse. And care settings have become even more risky and intense during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act (H.R. 1195) will require health care and social service industry employers to develop and implement a comprehensive workplace violence prevention plan. It will impact not just nurses but other health care workers who work alongside us. Can you spare one minute to show your support for this bill, and help it pass the House? For those who have not made your voice heard on this important legislation – this is your chance. And for our advocate who have been with us every step of the way – thank you! Let’s stand together, we CAN pass H.R. 1195 with the bipartisan support needed to set it up for success in the Senate. Thanks for helping work toward a future where nurses can safely help others heal.
