Nurses continue caring for us, it is time to take care of them

The physical, mental, and emotional toll that the COVID-19 pandemic has exerted on health care professionals has been devastating. Congress can help provide nurses relief by passing the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act (S. 610/H.R. 1667).

Health care providers are exhausted; emotionally and physically fatigued in distressing ways and this bipartisan, bicameral legislation would identify and disseminate best practices to reduce and prevent mental and behavioral health conditions, suicide, and burnout, as well as increase access to evidence-based treatment for nurses and other health care professionals.

The legislation has a strong chance of success in Congress, but it needs your voice. Tell your senator to vote yes when S. 610 goes before the Senate and tell your representative to co-sponsor H.R. 1667 to build support in the House.

Whether you are a nurse who has lived these challenges – or a friend, loved-one, or patient of a nurse who you know desperately needs a hand, share your story and remind your members of Congress time is of the essence for action. Customize your letter however you like.
