Supporting Mental Health During a Time of National Grief

In this moment of national grief following the killing of RN Alex Pretti, many in our nursing community may be feeling emotional strain or uncertainty. It’s important that we hold space for one another and recognize that support is available.
ANA and the American Nurses Foundation provide several confidential, evidence-based mental health and well-being resources designed specifically to help nurses navigate stress, grief, or burnout.
- Nurse Well-Being: Building Peer and Leadership Support Program: This free program was developed by nurses, for nurses, and uses the Stress First Aid model to support recovery from stress reactions. It offers practical, on‑demand tools to manage workplace stress and strengthen peer support networks.
